C-Span coverage and live video: here.
It’s Inauguration Day at 9:17am.
The National Mall has reached capacity and is closed. Based on the estimate of how much it holds, C-Span thinks that is a record turnout. Looking forward to crowd estimates.
Looking at crowd scenes on C-Span, I do not see any demonstrators.
I imagine that the policemen are extra bored. And, I am wondering, if they saw someone with a peace sign or protest banner, if they would thank them for being interesting.
—-Update. The 9:53 blog from our site:
As the Obama’s leave church and get into the car, some people – some loud men – can be heard chanting:
“No abortion. No killing babies.”
(Wonder if those men are also against the war and the death penalty?)
Even though I believe in a woman’s right to choose, I think it is funny that C-Span just ignored the situation. They did not comment on the demonstrators. They did not put the cameras on the demonstrators.
Mainstream news often excuses its coverage by saying that they show what the viewers want. I can’t think other people, like me, because curious when hearing a steady and strong chant. It took me awhile to figure out what the words were.
