Summary of what is going on, garnished from the Daily News Daily Politics blog, the Times Union Capitol Confidential blog, and Justine at Pisces Cafe:
The Democrats went to court in the morning and got nothing. The Republicans met in the State Senate Chamber, but it was mostly ceremony, with no voting. The Democrats went to court again in the afternoon. The Republicans claim the ruling still allows the Republicans to meet. The ruling does prevent Pedro Espada from serving as Governor (ie: if the Governor leaves the state) until the next court date. The next court date is at the Albany Supreme Court at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Meanwhile, Monserrate (who allegedly slashed his girlfriend’s face) is saying vague things, and meeting with the Democrats.
