Did you hear that Sarah Palin will be resigning as Governor of Alaska at the end of July?
My first guess is that it is related to a scandal…either some of the investigations into how she handled employment issues, or something wild done by her husband or children. (As it was, it was a little embarrassing her daughter did not get married after all the hoopla.)
Reuters had a piece suggesting 6 possible reasons she could be resigning. And, the last one was the one I guessed: Probably a scandal.
(Although, Reuters also said it could be the media scrutiny got to her. And, I did hear a recent vignette about her and one of her pregnancies which I thought it was wrong and vulgar for anyone to have put into print.)
Here is an excerpt from the Reuters story:
SNAP ANALYSIS: Why is Sarah Palin resigning as Alaska governor?
[Five other choices…or…]
* She fears a looming political problem, perhaps even a scandal, and wanted out of the limelight, before the news broke. “If there is any evidence that the decision was a result of political problems or looming scandals, she is done,” said Julian Zelizer, a Princeton University history professor.
