IRV (Instant Runoff Voting) is usually considered a positive for third parties. It allows people to vote for more than one candidate by ranking them. It takes away most fears about “the spoiler effect.”

YES 17,083 52.45%
NO 15,486 47.55%The ballot measure to adopt proportional representation in Lowell, MA is going down. [As of Wed. at 9:49am, it failed.]
Things went smoothly in Minneapolis’ first Instant Runoff Voting election.
