Hank Bardel is running on the Green Party line for Congress in the 13rd District, covering Staten Island and the Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights and Gravesend neighborhoods of Brooklyn. In the wake of the disasters of the blowing up of the the deep water oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 workers, polluting the Gulf, the estuaries, the beaches and the coal mine disaster in West Virginia that killed 29 coal miners, Bardel calls for the Federal Government to spend billions of dollars into research of renewable energy.
Our society has been dragging its feet on this issue because of the policies of the Democrats and Republicans and we keep having one disaster after another along with environmental destruction. We need to spend this money on the renewable, non polluting energies of wind power, solar power, geothermal energy, biomass power, hydro power, hydrogen power and ocean energy. If I’m elected to Congress I will introduce bills into Congress that will provide billions of dollars for renewable energy research. Don’t rely on Democrats and Republicans to do this they are too wedded to gas, oil, coal and nuclear energy. I plan to get this money by having a progressive tax increase on people making over $250,000.00 a year.
