A state-funded jobs program could boost the state’s economy and put thousands of unemployed New Yorkers back to work, said Howie Hawkins, the Green Party candidate for governor.
“Private jobs are great, but public jobs are necessary,” Hawkins said at a Wednesday news conference in front of the State Office Building on Genesee Street. “We need to get the economy moving again.”
