From September 19th through the 25th, Summers is taking Feeding Illinois’ SNAP Challenge. As a gesture of empathy, he joins others in attempting to eat on a “food stamp” allotment.
On his blog, www.SummersTimes.com, Scott reports on his progress with what he describes as an “austere” diet. He promises a final blog report once the period is up.
“We’re a wealthy state in a well-to-do nation,” Summers asserts. “$4.50 per day is — literally — a starvation budget. Neighbors and friends should not be going hungry.”
