from the Hawkins campaign:
This November, vote for change. Vote Green Party. Howie Hawkins for Governor.
The Democrat Party is not the answer. They’re the problem. Like the Republicans, they represent the corporations, the rich, the military industrial complex.
1. Just like private health insurance is the root cause of the failures of the American health care system. We spend far more money per person on health care than the other industrial countries. The difference is that they cover everyone and their systems keep their residents much healthy than ours. So what did the Democrats do? First they took single payer Medicare for All (i.e., no insurance companies) off the table. Then they mandated that every American buy insurance. The people lost. insurance companies won.
2. The Democratic Party is a war party. They always have been. You want peace, vote for a peace party – the Green Party. The only way to peace is peace. American voters wanted change, so they put the Democrats in power – at the state and federal level. The result is that the power – and budget – of the military just continues to grow. Obama proposed the largest military budget in history – more than the rest of the world combined. The Democrats say the war in Iraq is over – yet we have 50,000 occupying troops there and even more private hired armies (i.e., mercenaries, like the British in the American Revolution). The unwinnable war – in Afghanistan and Pakistan – grows. War for oil is not an energy policy. But the Democrats failed to pass a climate change policy in Congress – just like Clinton and Gore failed.
3. America has the greatest recession and unemployment since the Great Depression. Among the poor, more than 30% are out of work – and many others have only part time work. The Green solution? A Green New Deal. A WPA style jobs program. Invest in green, clean energy to build a carbon free economy. Increase government spending at the federal and state level to increase consume demand. Stimulate the economy by putting more money in the hands of people who will spend it on necessities – not play casino poker with Wall Street. Make Wall Street bail out Main Street. Stop rebating $16 billion to Wall Street speculators from the stock transfer tax. Slash the military budget to create a peace dividend. Put a moratorium on home foreclosures.
The Democrats’ solution? Andy Cuomo wants a freeze in state spending, a cut in pensions, a property tax cap and no tax hikes on the rich. In New York, the Democrats always said once they gained control of the Governor’s office and both houses of the Legislature, change would occur. It hasn’t. No campaign finance reform, no farmworker’s bill of rights, no repeal of vacancy decontrol, no universal health care, no same sex marriage. No matter how many seats the Democrats win, it is not enough for them to act. Sixty votes in the US Senate isn’t enough. Yet the Republicans steal a Presidential election, they transform it into an election mandate and 52 votes in the Senate is a juggernaut. The Democrats in Congress spent a trillion of our tax dollars to bail out big banks. But not Main Street. They plan to cut social security and maybe Medicare in a lame duck session after the November elections.
Don’t be a Charlie Brown. Stop believing that the Democrats (i.e., Lucy) are going to let you kick the football this time. They always pull it away at the last minute, putting you on your back. The Democrats are a corporate-owned party, just like the Do-Nothing, Know-Nothing Party that call themselves Republicans. Just the good cop – bad cop game. Don’t be fooled. Aren’t you tired of all the corruption? Who is going to jail today? State lawmakers have a higher rate of indictment and conviction than the Mafia does.
50,000 votes for Howie Hawkins for Governor gives the Green Party line back in NY. 500,000 votes means our agenda wins.
Spread the word. Overgrow the government.
One World. One Chance. Vote Green Party.
