The Innocence Project and the Impact of DNA Exonerations on the Criminal Justice System
A Talk by Maddy deLone
Friday evening, January 14th
Innocence Project Executive Director Maddy deLone will discus how DNA testing has led to the exoneration of over 250 people nationwide and how these cases have challenged our assumptions about the criminal justice system. By identifying the leading causes of wrongful convictions (eyewitness misidentification, faulty forensics, false confessions and more), the Innocence Project has proven that the system is flawed and has issued a mandate for change.
Our speaker became the Executive Director of the Innocence Project in March, 2004. She is a graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, holds a Masters in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health and is a graduate of New York University School of Law, where she was an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Fellow. Ms. deLone was an attorney with the Prisoners’ Rights Project of the Legal Aid Society, a Skadden Fellow and staff attorney with Children’s Rights, Inc and a law clerk to the Hon. Robert W. Sweet.
