Mayor Bloomberg really is throwing his weight around. The NYC Police and Mayor Bloomberg evicted Occupy Wall Street protesters at Liberty Square last night, and threw out their belongings.
Members of the Occupy Wall Street legal team found a judge in the middle of the night, and at 6:30am, the judge issued a temporary restraining order saying that they should not be (or have been) evicted.
Mayor Bloomberg is at a press conference this morning. He is saying that he heard there is a judge’s ruling, but has not read it through. But, since he doesn’t know all the details, the paperwork is DELAYING his decision to let people back into Liberty Square. Bloomberg knows that the ruling is to let people stay, but he is playing a game, and saying he doesn’t know the terms under which they can stay. So, he is (wrongly) (obstinately) (in defiance of a judge) making the judge and the protesters wait to reopen Liberty Square/Zucotti Park.
