Kimberly writes: It is so sad and overwhelming to think about what is happening in Japan. I have seen many calls for prayer, and I have tried to do some meditations and “changing the Ch’i” rituals to add to the positive energy. Though, another idea has also come to me about a possible radiation cloud, and I want to share it. I did find out that the seeds of my idea already exist in the real world.
I have fears about how a radiation cloud might move around the world. I knew someone who was in Germany in the 80’s, and reported experiencing the Chernobyl cloud. (I think he “saw” it, but not sure how that works.) I also remember that, after 9-11, I was babysitting in Nassau County, when some kind of pollution cloud from the Twin Towers disaster passed over. When I called the local news station, other people had experienced it, and it wound up on the news. I remember it as the smell of cement and charred human remains.
It is scary to not know something like that is coming. It must also be scary to know it might come, and not know what is happening. I have been thinking about how to show people where the cloud is, and understand how “strong” the cloud is. My idea is to use unmanned drones to gather this information.
When I on-line-searched some keywords related to my idea, I came up with a company that, in2008, had proposed unmanned aircraft/drones as a possible way to monitor nuclear power plants. So, someone has thought of similar designs. And, plans or a system may already be in physical existence.
How could it work?
Along with the positives, I could see concerns, and after-the-fact problems with this scenario. So, it is only the beginning of a possible solution. Though, what if there were a series of drones, set up on the corners or boundary of any cloud that happens, kind of like orange cones, to show people where it was. That way people would be able to see how to exit the area, or batten down the hatches. (Then, again, it might cause a panic to escape the area?).
Another use is to just have drones in the middle of the cloud, to constantly assess the levels, and send reports back to scientists about levels and direction. That information could be related to the public with news and weather reports.
One problem I see is, “What would happen to the drones when the cloud was dissipated?” One idea would be to send them back to the destroyed plant, which will surely be off-limits for decades or centuries. Another idea would be to send them into space, or into a planet such as the moon. Though, that would definitely not be being a good neighbor, and if life exists, or develops, we would have done a wrong.
So, these are just thoughts. Putting them out into the world. Though, I see that other, similar ideas have been around.
Again, I send good and healing thoughts to Japan. And, when I get a chance in my life to settle down and concentrate, I am also going to send a check to Doctors Without Borders. I think they are a worthy charity who use money sincerely and effectively.
Also, for good updates about the Japanese nuclear crisis, and a way to donate to support “good dialogue” about nuclear in this crisis and after, you can check out Nuclear Information and Resource Service [NIRS]. They do public education, research, and activism related to concerns about nuclear power, radioactive waste, radiation and sustainable energy issues
